This is NOT a book review.
Why not?
Because this would be my most biased book review ever. Like, MORE biased than if I reviewed one of my own books.
Why?
Because the author, Robyn Aimee, is not only one of my best friends, but she based the main character, Rose, off of me.
So, this is NOT a book review. This is Fact Check of Rose, Adam, and their story.
What’s True?
Yes, I am an author.
Yes, I write horror and fantasy, BUT I also have romance in ALL of my stories.
Yes, I do love London and Shakespearean plays and sonnets. I did a Study Abroad in England, and I don’t say, “I left my heart there.” Instead, I say, “My heart has always been there, and I just go to visit.”
However, my favorite part about London is NOT “how easy it is to walk everywhere.”
Instead, I love the arts and cultures of London–the many museums for arts and sciences, musical performances in cathedrals, the theaters, and gardens.
I absolutely love that Mrs. Aimee turned a romance about me into a retelling of “Midsummer Night’s Dream” (even though the reality was very different).
If there was a wedding venue based on Shakespearean romances (and didn’t cost an arm and a leg), I would have wanted my wedding reception there. In reality, my wedding luncheon and reception was in a greenhouse venue.

Yes, I have a pocket watch. Two actually. One from each time I visited London. They’re both broken now, but I still have them for sentimental and costuming purposes.
Yes, I have reclining car seats in my living room from a 1995 Honda Odessy that broke down and was stolen.
Yes, I wear a ring that I fidget with, but it’s not a thumb ring (even though it can fit my thumb) and isn’t meant to be a fidget ring.
Yes, I have poor blood circulation and have freezing hands and feet. I have a pair of fingerless dragon-scale knitted gloves by my desk all year long. It can be the middle of summer, but I’ll still need to wear fuzzy socks.
Yes, I was far too familiar with unrequited love in my single years. Yes, Robyn (Abby) briefly dated someone I crushed on for years.
Yes, I am a fan of Michaelbrent Collings–International Best Selling Horror Author. I’m among his “Cult” of beta readers and have read and reviewed several of his books. Light-Years From Home isn’t my absolute favorite of his, but I thought, “If any of Robyn’s romcom readers look him up, that would be the one I’d suggest for them.”
Yes, I have signed copies of his books.
Yes, I love pizza. It doesn’t feel like a Friday without pizza.
Yes, I do play the harp. I have a Lyon and Healy Petite-Grand.

Yes, I do avoid conflict like the #9 Enneagram that I am.
Yes, IF I had ever been in Rose’s situation, I would have acted as she did… For the most part…
What did the author add?
Basically, the whole plot and all other characters. 😅
No, I am NOT famous or a New York Times Bestseller. (yet…)
No, I do not have the funds for insane charities.
No, I don’t keep my author life a secret.
No, I never fell in love that fast.
No, I never fake-dated anyone.
No, my husband is not Italian (but he tans like one).
No, my husband is not a professor or even an English buff. He’s an enginerd, and I love him for it.
No, he’s not a hiking/camping enthusiast (to my gratitude, because neither am I).
No, he was never a best man at an ex-girlfriend’s wedding.
No, I was never a bridesmaid for a wanna-be boyfriend.
No, I never dated a groomsman in the times I’ve been a bridesmaid.
No, I don’t aspire to be a florist.
How Do I Feel About My Representation?
An author I love and respect considered ME interesting and lovable enough to portray a MAIN CHARACTER?
There isn’t a word for how deeply and tenderly honored I feel.
I once had a backburner goal to become a well-known (enough) author to be included in Michaelbrent Collings’ next Longest Con book. I’ve said, “I’d be that annoying character who tries to help but just makes things worse.” 😆
Mrs. Aimee’s portrayal of me was considerably kinder. 🥰
I’ll admit, reading through “Yes, I’m an Author” is difficult for me at times, because there are moments where I 100% recognize myself and others where I need to consciously separate myself and say, “This is Rose, not me.”
Hard as it was during the editing stages, I needed to allow Robyn to take artistic liberties for the sake of the story. And she made it wonderful enough for many others to enjoy!
Every time the book receives a 4 or 5 star review, I get warm fuzzies. 🥰
Not like it means anything, but I give it *****5 Stars*****
